Why are my home insurance rates going up in Texas
Every day our phones ring at the Mauceri Bynum Insurance Agency here in Mckinney Texas.  With several thousand people insured at our agency we get all kinds of questions.. Can I pay my bill? If my transmission blows up is that covered under auto insurance? Will my car insurance pay for a rental car while I am on vacation? We get all kinds of questions.  However, the most popular question is...(drum roll) Why is my home insurance going up when I have not filed a claim?? We get this question more than any other question out there.  So here is the answer. 1. Several years ago the Texas government made a decision to make all weather related claims NON chargeable to a home owner policy.  So what does that mean?  If you file a claim for HAIL. Hurricane. WILDFIRE.  none of them will raise your rates. Now when I tell people that they say.. WOW thats great.  God Bless Texas. But here is the catch..(there always is a catch) 2. All claims cost from weather claims are now SOCIALIZED to all the customers of home insurance.  So all the cost associated with replacing all those roofs in Mckinney and Frisco are spread across all customers. 3. What does that mean to you? Well.. all that money for the hail and weather claims that people are compensated for go into a "bucket" of sorts.  That cost is then shared across all policy holders in Texas. All Insurance companies in Texas now operate this way.  Whether it is State Farm, Met Life or Liberty Mutual.  Thats how it works. So as long as there is hail in Texas.  There will be rate changes associated with it. What can you do to help manage costs?  Simple . Give us a call at [phone]. We have the ability to shop all of your home insurance thru 8 or 9 different companies to get you the best coverage at the best price.
