Three Top Auto Insurance Secrets Part 2
Today part two of our series of “Top Three Secrets on saving on your Auto Insurance.”
After almost 20 years in the industry we have learned some things that people can do to reduce their insurance cost that no one really knows.
That is no one but those of us that are insurance nerds.
Top SECRET tip number TWO
Check for these coverages that inflate your prices.
#1- Uninsured Motorist -Property DAMAGE
This coverage is used to pay to fix or replace your car in the event that
*Someone with no car insurance
* Totals or damages your car
*The accident is the fault of the person who has no insurance
Now let me make this clear. This is a GREAT coverage to have. Especially in Texas where a reported 30% of drivers currently carry no auto insurance.
There is one thing to bear in mind, your insurance for this coverage will never pay more then your car is actually worth.
Lets take an actual example of a recent new client of ours who switched over from State Farm Insurance. The client had $100,000 in coverage for Property Damage Uninsured motorist. He was currently driving a 2003 Toyota Camry worth about $10,000
So if this customer had his car totaled and used his Property Damage Uninsured Motorist coverage, STATE FARM would only had paid a maximum of $10,000 for his car. However, the customer was paying for $100,000 of coverage. So in essence he was paying for $90,000 in coverage he would never ever be able to use.
Some auto insurance companies are notorious for this trick. Just imagine if you were an insurance company collecting extra money that would never be paid out.
So if you are a Texas auto insurance customer and you carry Property Damage Uninsured motorist , check the limit and compare it to the value of your car. If you are unsure of how to do this, give us a call at The Mauceri Bynum Insurance Agency. Or visit us at
